Announcing the 2019 Jason Ricci / Winslow Yerxa Harmonica Collective -- a 3-day intensive harmonica workshop geared toward the intermediate to advanced harmonica enthusiast who wishes to take his or her playing to another level of achievement. This year's Collective will be held in Sanford, Florida (a suburb of Orlando) at The Alley, Central Florida's premiere blues venue.
Joining the expert instruction given by Winslow Yerxa and Jason Ricci, we are honored to have the phenomenal Jerry Portnoy on our teaching staff this year. If you don't know about Jerry, look him up (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Portnoy). Following 6 years as Muddy Waters' harp player on too many tours and recordings to recount here, he was the harp player in Eric Clapton's band for 3 years, and has had a long and illustrious career as a performer, bandleader and accomplished harp teacher.
In addition to Jerry we welcome Celtic harp specialist James Conway from Chicago, whose teaching and performing history is also legendary. He will round out the stylistic balance of the Collective and provide players who wish to expand their horizons an opportunity to step outside the blues. As always, we will provide backup instruction for any novice players who wish to join us.
There will be presentations by Tom Halchak of Blue Moon Harmonicas, and Lone Wolf Blues will be represented as well. You can participate in an attendee jam on Saturday afternoon with the band. Your ticket price includes a continental breakfast and full luncheon daily. Local hotel recommendations will be added soon.
